When you are playing in any online poker game, there will be a point in which you want to try to get someone to bluff their hand. When a player is bluffing they will bet more money in the hope that no one can see through their bluff and will lay down there hand. Sometimes when you induce a bluff the person does not know he is being set up to do so, and will effectively throw money to a lost cause. Bluffing is a very important online poker strategy.
A good way of inducing a bluff is to check when you have a strong hand. Checking is normally a sign of weakness and other more aggressive players will bet hoping they can make you fold, and they will win the pot. If they don’t bet, you are allowing them to see a free card, which isn’t good unless you have a very strong hand and think that it is very unlikely they can improve there hand enough to beat yours.

You can also induce a bluff by placing a small bet, which makes you look like your hand is weak and the player bluffing is given the opportunity to re-raise you in an attempt to make you fold. What I like to do here is let them re-raise then call, as the next card is revealed I like to check and hope once more that they will bet. This is a risky strategy to adopt but can be very rewarding. I only advise doing this if you have a very strong hand.
Being able to induce bluff’s effectively takes hours of practice, obviously other factors apart from how you bet can play a part. People often say that somebody who bets very fast is bluffing, so I suggest taking your time and carefully selecting whether to check or bet. Also taking your time shows that you are carefully selecting what you are doing, the length of time you take can make or break the act you of inducing a bluff.
